While the idea for Angelwood Pies was born in 2024 after a hike in the Perth hills, this humble classic has always been a constant in our lives and a comfort meal we’ve happily returned to.
Once the seed was planted, things quickly fell into place, and we got to work perfecting our pastry (we bring together the best of both worlds with a buttery shortcrust base and puff pastry lid) and refining recipes that celebrate locally sourced produce.
Everyone’s got a pie story, and we’re looking forward to making your next bite one to remember.

Angelwood Pies is brought to you by Perth locals Richard Overbye and Patrick Wallis.
Chef Richard Overbye has honed his skills in the fine dining scene as the head chef at Amaru in Melbourne, working at three-Michelin-starred Maaemo in Oslo, and at Perth institutions Wildflower and Restaurant Amuse.
Richard has been quietly passionate about pies his whole life, from finding a regular spot to enjoy the Aussie staple during his time in Europe to them being at the top of his list whenever he returned home.
Patrick Wallis is a hospitality veteran and Modus alum with the know-how to champion customer service and deliver consistently great coffee, and a passion for building community.
The pair crossed paths working at a pop-up restaurant, where they struck up a friendship and saw they had complementary skills to make something truly special for the Perth food scene. As you can tell, the rest is history.

We’ve got guaranteed crowd pleasers covered for your next event. Catering packages are coming soon, but for now you can express your interest at hello@angelwood.com.au
